Coke has poured millions of dollars into an effort to persuade people that exercise, not diet, is the key to weight control.
Exercise makes only a modest contribution to weight loss, but Coke wants you to think otherwise—to keep you drinking their high-fructose sugary water.
In case you forgot, or never knew in the first place, the number one source of calories in the US is high fructose corn syrup, usually in the form of soft drinks. What does too much fructose do? It releases excess insulin, causing high triglycerides, obesity, diabetes and the metabolic syndrome.
